The North West & 2012
The Northwest Steering Group for the 2012 Games is championing efforts to encourage everyone in the region, from businesses to schools, sports clubs, charities and entire communities, to maximise the opportunities presented by London 2012. It is also using the Games as a catalyst to help deliver the region’s existing priorities in areas such as skills, tourism and business.
Since ‘Be Inspired’ the Northwest Legacy Framework, was launched in 2007, the region has embraced this vision for the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games. This has been updated annually, with the latest publication ‘Everyone’s 2012’ launched at the Northwest Annual 2012 Conference in July 2009.
The region’s legacy ambitions focus on three areas: social, sporting and economic development. Our goals are to drive greater levels of engagement, participation and inspiration, leading to social and community development, increase sporting participation and physical activity levels, and added economic value.
