Five Easy Steps to Create Games Inspiration
Volunteering England and YouthNet want every organisation around the country to have a chance to benefit form the increased interest in volunteering.
Here then are five easy steps to create Games inspiration and make sure that your organisation is getting the most from the 2012 Games:
Use Volunteering England's promotional materials to pass the message on. You can do this in two ways:
Take the top one or two pieces of news from their e-newsletter and include them in your own, or simply forward it on; and
Brighten up your website with Games inspired web banners. The banners are available in a range of sizes to fit most websites and are an excellent way of showing how you're committed to the volunteering legacy of the Games by promoting this way of getting involved to your networks. Details can be found by clicking here.
Invite the project team to present a workshop on "creating Games inspired volunteering opportunities" at your large events.
Volunteer Centres are being asked to do all of the above and also make sure they're up to date with the Games inspired definitions and to be ready for Games inspired volunteers and organisations. Why not print them out and put them by the computer your office uses to record all volunteering opportunities?
-
Volunteer Centres are also being given the opportunity to tender to host a Games inspired workshop. Successful applicants will receive £3,000 to prepare, host and follow up from a workshop delivered by a member of the Inspiration and Legacy from the 2012 Games team to 50 organisations from their local community. The closing date is the end of July so to find out more click here.
If you already involve volunteers - are you making use of our information on creating Games inspired volunteering opportunities?
This can be found here. Creating Games inspired volunteering opportunities is a tangible way you can bring the magic of the 2012 Games to your volunteers, your organisation and community.
For organisations who want to create Games inspired opportunities, Volunteer England's latest web resources include a Guide to Creating Games Inspired Volunteering Opportunities, Funding Guide, which can be found here.
