Winning new business for the Northwest

Northwest companies have the opportunity to access new business that will be created from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games: leading up to, during and after this prestigious event. Delivering the 2012 Games is a major undertaking for the UK, requiring products, services and works to be provided from almost every business sector, including; construction, manufacturing, professional services, tourism, communication, hospitality, sport, transport, retail, food and the creative sectors.

London 2012 is predicted to generate 75,000 opportunities totalling £6bn. Most opportunities will fall to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) likely to come from further down the supply chains.

Coordinating regional business activities

The Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) is working with the business community across the Northwest to ensure that the region leverages a fair share of business from the London 2012 Games. A coordinating body - the Northwest Business Forum (2012 Games) has been formed to help ensure coordination and a coherent approach.

The aims of the group are to coordinate a business-led Forum that facilitates maximum engagement and development of business opportunities in the Northwest generated by the 2012 Games.
