About us

Achieving our vision. A team event.

Bold, ambitious and inspiring on many levels, the UK's vision for the 2012 Games will affect every corner of the country. From stimulating business and encouraging tourism, to engaging communities and creating a legacy of success that will last a lifetime.

But this vision can only become a reality if we work together at a national, regional and local level. Partnership and cooperation is vital

To achieve this, the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG) has been working closely with the Nations and Regions Group to engage on a regional level with the Games

Behind every successful athlete there is a team of trainers, managers and advisors. And we are no different. Within the Northwest there are several regional and sub-regional structures spearheading this movement; ensuring the success and benefits associated with 2012 are felt across the entire UK.

Northwest Steering Group

The Steering Group, formed from representatives of lead agencies, including NWDA and North West Sports Board, sets and drives the Legacy Framework. It ensures the Northwest fully plays its part in supporting the Games - and benefits from its success.

Sub-Regional Groups

Operating within the Steering Group, it is the groups' responsibility to respond to the unique challenges and opportunities of each distinct sub region.

The Northwest Strategic Leadership Group

Working closely with the Northwest Steering Group, the Strategic Leadership Group Influence regional partners, lobby for resources on a national level and promote the region's role in driving 2012 initiatives.

Legacy Working Groups

Whether it's by developing action plans, driving initiatives or strengthening relationships, it's the group's task to help the diverse range of partners work together effectively to achieve their common goal.
